Celebrating 12 Years of building self worth in young women

The ANNUAL Gears for Good Cycling Event was started by Top Buttons to support the programs of Top Buttons. Top Buttons is a 501c3 nonprofit building self-worth inside and out in young women, click here to learn more. As cyclists ride, they are ‘shifting gears’ for good in the lives of some very deserving young women and partnering with us to expand our reach in the years to come.

    GROUP RIDE ETIQUETTE

This is a group ride under escort of Polk County PD. We must remain as an organized peloton to ensure the Deputies can provide a safe experience for us out on the route.

If at any point you are unable to stay with the group it is required that you allow the SAG vehicle to pick you up. There will be another chance to rejoin your designated group at the next Aid Station.

  • Yep, we will have leaders out on the road with you to be sure this is a safe and fun ride.

Our Captains will work to keep each group together and navigate the group turn-by-turn through the course.

But that is not all, they will also be in communication with the trailing SAG vehicle.

  • We will have a SAG vehicle ready to assist you in case of a mechanical or flat. The SAG vehicle will pick you and your bike up and bring you safely to the next rest stop. At this point the Mechanics will be able repair your bike and you will join back in the group for the rest of the ride.

  • Show your Local Bike Shop and fellow riders that you care about your bike and get it serviced prior to the event. We recommend Road & Trail Bicycles for new bike sales as well as parts/accessory and service.

  • For the 70 Mile Route there will be 2 Rest Stops. The 1st will be at approximately mile 23 (essentials including water, Gu’s & hydration mix. The 2nd will be at Mile 53 (full stop including water, Gu’s, hydration mix, fruit, bars, & more).

For the 34 Mile Route there will be 1 Rest Stop 18 miles in where you will refuel at the Top Buttons Winter Haven location (full stop including water, Gu’s, hydration mix, fruit, bars, & more)..

Please use your experience and bring any additional items that you need to finish and still feel fresh enough to hang out & grab some food.

  • We are thankful to have the support of the Polk County Police Department to keep the cyclists moving out on course. We will have patrol cars supporting each group throughout the ride. Polk County PD will be controlling the intersections and providing a follow vehicle to protect the back of the group as well. Because of this, it is important that we maintain an organized peloton to allow the officers to best serve us. We will follow the rules of the road at all times during this event. We WILL NOT cross the yellow line. We WILL call out debris and potholes to keep each other safe.

  • The ‘ride’ is only half of what “Gears for Good” has to offer.

Once you finish the ride you will be welcomed back to the Top Buttons Bartow location to an amazing experience that is all included as part of the registration:

    Catered Meal

    Assorted Refreshments

    Segment Podium Awards

    Raffles

  • Each registered participant will receive 1 raffle tickets:

The C group will have their own raffle drawings following their finish.

The A & B groups will have a combined raffle drawing following the award ceremony for the segment winners.
